dc.descriptionThe main causes of the serious environmental situation that faces humanity nowadays are related, in certain degrees, with the hegemonic policies that characterize imperialist potencies, imposing neoliberal globalization which stops underdeveloped and developing countries. The weather change and the global economic crisis, together with the enormous break that sets rich and poor countries apart, are the results of the unsustainable situation that the world is facing nowadays, with unpredictable effects. On the contrary, the fast scientific and technical development in all spheres of human activity, acquires a greater role in the development of the society, the fact that undoubtedly impacts in one way or another the environment and marks a turning point in the purposes of the sustainable development. In this scenery The Scientific and Environmental Education acquire an important role before the challenge of achieving an appropriate education that allows citizens to cope with, and take actions in favor of the environmental protection and care as well as sustainable development. These and other aspects are taken into account in the present article.en-US
dc.descriptionLas causas fundamentales de la grave situación ambiental que enfrenta hoy la humanidad están relacionadas, en buena medida, con las políticas hegemónicas que caracterizan a las potencias imperialistas, imponiendo la globalización neoliberal que ahoga y frena a los países subdesarrollados y en vías de desarrollo. El cambio climático y la crisis económica mundial, unido a la inmensurable brecha que separa a los países pobres y ricos, son el resultado de la insostenible situación actual en que vive el mundo, cuyos efectos son impredecibles. Por otro lado, el acelerado desarrollo científico – técnico en todas las ramas del quehacer humano, adquiere un mayor protagonismo en el desenvolvimiento de la sociedad, hecho este que indiscutiblemente impacta de una forma u otra en el medio ambiente y marca un hito en los propósitos del desarrollo sostenible. Ante este escenario la Educación Científica y la Educación Ambiental para el Desarrollo Sostenible adquieren hoy un relevante papel ante el desafío de lograr una adecuada preparación ciudadana que les permita enfrentar los complejos retos de la época y adoptar decisiones a favor del cuidado y la protección del medio ambiente, y del desarrollo sostenible. Precisamente sobre estos aspectos se ofrecen consideraciones en el presente artículo.es-ES
