A temática lgbt na formação em odontologia: uma revisão de literatura.

Abstract

O Brasil é um dos países que mais matam pessoas Lésbicas, Gays, Bissexuais e Transgêneros (LGBT) no mundo. Na base de tanta violência está o preconceito. A intolerância, o desrespeito e a exclusão geram nos indivíduos não heterossexuais insegurança e sofrimento, pois estão expostos à discriminação e aos riscos de agressões verbais, morais e físicas constantemente. Constituem assim uma população não apenas vulnerável, mas socialmente vulnerada, que requer políticas públicas que garantam o exercício de seus direitos. A ausência desta temática nos currículos dos cursos da Saúde constitui importante lacuna na formação dos futuros profissionais que não são adequadamente preparados para atender essas pessoas, nem para perceber-se vítima de homofobia ou de padrões heteronormativos, no caso dos estudantes não heterossexuais. Frente a estes pressupostos, o objetivo desta pesquisa foi descobrir o que se tem publicado sobre a temática LGBT no contexto de formação profissional em Odontologia. Para tanto, realizou-se uma revisão sistematizada da literatura, empregando-se as bases de dados BVS, Lilacs, Pubmed, Scielo e Scopus. Os critérios de inclusão foram: tratar da temática de gênero em algum contexto educacional relacionado à Odontologia; dispor de texto completo e; estar redigido em português, inglês ou espanhol. Os critérios de exclusão foram: artigos não coincidentes com o tema da pesquisa e; artigos repetidos. Aplicados estes critérios, a busca resultou em nove artigos. A revisão destes artigos mostrou que os alunos não têm informação suficiente sobre recursos e suporte para alunos e pacientes LGBT e que os diretores dos cursos de graduação de Odontologia pensam ser desnecessário prover apoio acadêmico especializado para estudantes LGBT, de certa forma negligenciando a necessidade de uma discriminação positiva desses indivíduos. Conclui-se que há uma lacuna na formação em Odontologia no que diz respeito à diversidade sexual e de gênero, sendo necessária sua inclusão e desenvolvimento como estratégia para a qualificação dos futuros profissionais que precisam ser ética e socialmente competentes.

Brazil is one of the countries that kill the most lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgender (LGBT) people in the world. On the basis of so much violence is prejudice. Intolerance, disrespect and exclusion generate in non-heterosexual individuals insecurity and suffering because they are exposed to discrimination and the risks of verbal, moral and physical aggression constantly. They thus constitute a population not only vulnerable, but socially vulnerable, which requires public policies that guarantee the exercise of their rights. The absence of this theme in the curricula of the Health courses constitutes an important gap in the training of future professionals who are not adequately prepared to attend these people, or to perceive themselves as victims of homophobia or heteronormative patterns in the case of non-heterosexual students. In view of these assumptions, the objective of this research was to find out what has been published on the subject of LGBT in the context of professional training in dentistry. For this, a systematic review of the literature was carried out, using the databases BVS, Lilacs, Pubmed, Scielo and Scopus. The inclusion criteria were: to deal with gender issues in some educational context related to dentistry; have full text and; be written in Portuguese, English or Spanish. The exclusion criteria were: articles that did not coincide with the research theme; articles. After applying these criteria, the search resulted in nine articles. The results show that students do not have enough information about resources and support for LGBT students and patients and that dental school managers think it unnecessary to provide specialized academic support for LGBT students, some of them neglecting the need for positive discrimination of these individuals. It is concluded that there is a gap in the training in Dentistry with regard to sexual and gender diversity, and its inclusion and development as a strategy for the qualification of future professionals who need to be ethically and socially competent.
