Resumen
This study discusses the relationship between museums and the public, together with
a pertinent thematic in postmodernity: spectacularization, having as object of analysis
the Imperial Museum, located in Petrópolis, State of Rio de Janeiro. In this way, we
try to understand it from the museums and their respective expogation narratives.
Museological exhibitions play a mediating role between the public and the exhibited
collection and are therefore fundamental elements of the relationship between
museum and society, being essential communication tools for the dissemination of
information and the effectiveness of the communication process. However, fetishism,
spectacle and the use of technological supports are peculiar characteristics that
permeate this process. It is, therefore, evident the responsibility of these institutions
regarding the transfer of information, the challenges of the museological narrative,
and in the case here applied in a historical exposition, perfer to questions of scientific
and social nature of the information treatment, being these assumptions approached
as points of fluency between Museology and Information Science in our approach.
Museums are characterized as cultural products of the society of consumption,
spectacle and the information age.
Todavia, o fetichismo, o
permeiam tal processo. É, portanto, evidente a responsabilidade dessas instituições
