This text deals with a reflection that considers the vital role of the school in building the future of the society, taking as starting point the argue about the role it must fulfill at social and historical levels. The document focuses on the intended purposes for education in Colombia, in the utopian sense that is generated from the reality projected by them and the dystopia caused by the range of what was previously set and the existing reality. Similar to complex thought, it is outlined the need to understand the emerging interactions in three essential agents for the consideration of a close future in education: the State, the society and the subject.En el presente texto se aborda una reflexión que considera la función esencial de la escuela en construir el futuro próximo de la sociedad, tomando como punto de partida la discusión sobre el rol que ésta debe cumplir en el plano social e histórico. El documento se centra en los fines propuestos para la educación en Colombia, en el sentido utópico que se genera a partir de la realidad proyectada por éstos y la distopía provocada por el distanciamiento de lo planteado y la realidad existente. De igual forma, acudiendo al pensamiento complejo, se esboza la necesidad de comprender las interacciones emergentes en tres agentes esenciales para la consideración de un futuro próximo en la educación: el Estado, la sociedad y el sujeto.
