Resumen
This study aims to analyze the female characters Emma Bovary, Lúcia (Maria da Gloria) and Isaltina, respectively represented in titles like Madame Bovary (1857), Gustave Flaubert, Lucíola (1862), by José de Alencar, and Lucas Procópio (1985), by Autran Dourado. This study begins with verification of the influence that certain readings of Emma Bovary that lead to misrepresenting the reality with her real dissatisfaction and appreciation of the novel, changing her way of proceeding and consequently inducing her to adultery. Comparatively, this paper seeks to relate the characteristics of this Flaubert’s character that would be analogously in the characters of these two aforementioned. Furthermore, this analysis includes an approach of the nineteenth and twenty century, when the events of Lucíola and Lucas Procópio narratives occured, emphasizing the conditions to which the aforementioned female characters were submitted and their attempt to subvert the manorial man’s world, showing the first cracks of the patriarchal order.
