Resumen
The reduction using plant enzymes has been an efficient method for the organic synthesis of new compounds, in addition to using mild reaction conditions that are less harmful to the environment. In general, the bioreduction of dibenzalacetone (1,5-diphenyl-1,4-pentadien-3-one) by dehydrogenase enzymes present in carrots (Daucus carota) was performed. The enzymes showed efficient results for breaking specific bonds in the molecule, thus pointing out their selective character, which differentiates them from classical chemical catalysts. There were variations between the syntheses in order to assess a better yield for the reaction. The photoprotective character of dibenzalacetone was pointed out, in order to assess whether this characteristic would be lost after biotransformation. The characterization used Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), Infrared Molecular Absorption Spectroscopy with Fourier Transform (IV-TF), Molecular Absorption Spectrophotometer (UV-Vis) and Gas Chromatography coupled to the Mass Spectrometer (CG/EM). Through chromatography, it was discussed which products were formed, which conditions are more promising for synthesis, in addition to the molecule fragmentations. By UV-vis, the photoprotective characteristic was pointed out, and by (IV-TF) which bands will be affected by the synthesis.
