Resumen
With the search for new technologies, sustainable developments and limitations imposed by the lumber, Glued Laminated Timber emerged. This technique allows the construction of large structures, high lengths and curved elements from reforestation wood. Due to their productive control, the pieces of wood are selected for the removal of defects from the natural wood and classified, so that the pieces of higher quality are arranged in the regions of greater demand of the structure. Even with the large availability of wood in Brazil, this technique is not widespread. Thus, in order to stimulate the use and knowledge of glued laminated wood, numerical analyzes were performed in SAP2000, where the behavior of beams with lengths varying from 5m to 20m was verified, analyzing the shear stresses, normal stresses and acting arrow in the structures, as well as the response of an arc of 20m length in comparison with a beam of the same dimensions. The results showed that in shear of great length the shear stresses tend to decrease very little even with the increase of the height of the piece, since the normal stresses and arrow have a uniform behavior. The shaped arches had satisfactory responses in relation to the normal and arrow stresses, in contrast they have low shear strength compared to the beam.
