Resumen
The objective was to evaluate the effect of inclusion of protected fat in the diet of ovine on fermentation and ruminal parameters, as ruminal pH, ammoniacal nitrogen concentration (N-NH 3), and total sugar. The animals were fed with concentrate based on soybean meal, wheat bran, corn with inclusion of levels of protected fat which were, control diet, 2.0%, 4.0% and 6.0%and roughage hay Tifton 85, diets were isoproteics and isoenergetics in ratio of 20:80 roughage and concentrate, respectively. 4 animals with no defined breed were used, mean weight 50 kg scattered around in a 4x4 Latin Square experimental design. The experiment was realized at UNEPE animal metabolism Federal Technological University of Paraná – Campus Dois Vizinhos, and had a duration of 90 days, being 10 days of adaptation to the environment and 4 experimental periods of 20 days, being 15 for adaptation to diet and 5 days to collect. The animals will be kept in individual metabolic cages with individual feed troughs and drinking fountains. The food provided and leftovers were controlled, and those were pre-dried in a forced air oven at 55° for 72 hours for subsequent analysis and obtaining the values of nutrients. The NH3-N and total sugar analysis was performed in the laboratory of Nutritional science and plant physiology at the university, and were performed by colorimetric methods. The pH was measured at the collect. With the addition of protected fat was expected not change the values for ammoniacal nitrogen concentration(N-NH3), ruminal pH and concentration of total sugars. The control treatment (T0%), and T6% had a significant quadratic effect (P<0,05)to the pH values depending on time after feeding. There was no effect of treatment for pH. It was observed significant effect positive linear (P<0,05) of the treatment, depending on the concentration N-NH3, there was no effect of time in relation the N-NH 3 concentrations, except T4% which had linear effect negative (P<0,05). No effect of time in relation to the concentration of total sugars. It is recommended inclusion of fat protected by 6 % in the diets with high concentrate diets , as the effects observed even with the NH3-N concentration , pH, and sugars were within expected.
