Resumen
Brazil is the one of the biggest poultry, pork and beef producer in the world. Concentrating its largest exportation by ocean freights mainly through the ports of the South and the South-East of the country such as São Francisco do Sul, Itajai, Rio Grande, Paranaguá, and Santos. In addition to the commodity, other foods and even medication require proper and correct storage during transportation. This whole transfer of moving the load from the producer to its final destiny, the consumer, is called cold chain. Within this cold chain context, we have several links where temperature and its monitoring are fundamental to guarantee the quality of the cargo, the reduced insurance costs, and especially to avoid any food waste. Considering all, solutions have been developed for this market with the increased use of wireless sensor network application and internet of things. The intention of this work is to evaluate the application of wireless sensor networks within one of the links in the cold chain. Precisely in the container yards or the dry ports, where the vast majority of cargos are still manually recorded and monitored. The proposal aims to present IoT technologies that can be applied in order to do remote monitoring.
