O uso do subterrâneo como uma alternativa de ocupação urbana

Abstract

The 20th Century urban centers have been characterized by the socio-spatial fragmentation consequent from their own urban environment economic flows. They are in constant redefining and have major importance at the determination of the use and occupancy of the area, just as lower is the ability of the government to lead this process. Since cities are collective and dynamic constructions, and, depending on how the involved operators act, certain areas develop or degrade, creating several urban incoherences, such as downtown areas, with consolidated infrastructure and historical importance that are underused or abandoned for not currently attending to market interests. The city of Curitiba is not an excepcion, and in response to this configuration, this research aims to develop a urban intervention project in its downtown, trying to reclaim these potentialities that have already being placed and ordering new ways of occupation and use of these areas.
