Resumen
Card games have a vast space in national and international markets. There are cards that can be worth cents to thousands of dollars. A simple store can have thousands of playing cards in stock. Consequently, the work of cataloging them is exhausting, demanding time and resources. The current market offers some tools that can help. However, they do not provide all the autonomy that stores need to manage their collectible cards. Simplicity and usability are important differentials for collectors. They often feature not developed in mobile apps, available in digital stores. Downloading additional features is commonly used by these applications for certain functionality to operate correctly, such as detecting and recognizing playing cards. This project consists of developing a mobile app for managing playing cards. The application allows the cataloging of these cards using the Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR). Then, through the smartphone camera, the image of the playing card to be cataloged is captured and compared to a remote database of existing collectible cards. The application can be used by stores or any collector. The development of this mobile app takes place exclusively for the iOS platform. The application includes access to a remote service for the recognition of playing cards, without downloading any additional resources on the user’s device. A back-end software is responsible for feeding the remote database, through specific APIs, with data from the collectible card game Magic: The Gathering.
