Abstract

This work addresses issues related to the current Brazilian Social Security, being basically delimited to the cases of taxpayers who are formal or autonomous employees. In addition to presenting an overview of current legislation, the text discusses real cases of citizens who, upon reaching the date to apply for retirement, wish to calculate their initial monthly income. This issue is addressed through the use of a spreadsheet proposed by the author, which shows the information desired from the insertion of monthly contribution salaries throughout the various years of social security payments. Finally, an academic discussion about the desirability of retiring, as soon as the requisite requirements are met, is presented.
