Resumen
The production of flowers and ornamental plants has a promising market both nationally and internationally. In Brazil, the growing expansion of this market is due to the youthfulness, dynamism and promising segments in Brazilian agriculture. As a result of the harvesting of flower stems, physiological processes begin in the plant, associated with environmental factors, corroborating for the acceleration of the senescence of the plant, despite the prolongation of the life of a flower can be achieved with the application and proper use conservation technologies for post-harvest. This monograph contributes to floriculture companies, which do not have the financial conditions to install a cold chamber for storing flowers, evaluating alternatives to increase the conservation period and delay the senescence of flowers, especially Alstroemeria flowers, together the verification of the causes of the post-harvest and to elaborate a senescence scale for Alstroemeria hybrid L. The aspects evaluated in this work allowed us to observe that the dosages of floral preservative decreased the senescence of the Alstroemeria flower.
