Resumen
In this work, the laundry sector of a hospital will be studied, which will perform the processing of dirty clothes, só that they can be used again. Most public hospitals cope with the scarcity of resources. Because of this fact, hospital managers need to make strategic decisions to further minimize unnecessary monetary costs without compromising the standard and quality of health services required. The laundry sector of a hospital is a sector that is sometimes overlooked by most people, yet it is one of the key sectors in maintaining the functioning of most others. It is worth noting that washing and sterilizing hospital clothes is economically not focused on generating profits, however, it is considered to be one of the most costly hospital services, só it is an industry that must use its resources efficiently to avoid waste. The general objective of this study was to analyze the efficiency of resource use in the laundry sector of a hospital, based on a theory used by production engineering, the Theory of Constraints. For this, the entire production process was mapped, which allowed to determine and present a database for the analysis of the productive flow and to understand objectively the operation of the processes and stages. Using the Pareto Diagram, the activity that most impacted the sector was determined, being this the absence of planning caused by the lack of communication among the employees. Therefore, improvements have been proposed to optimize the flow of the process, enabling the release of a capacity, which means the release of resources and capital invested.
