Resumen
The aquatic ecosystem has been altered in different scales in the last decades due to the pollution by industrial, domestic and agricultural residues. Changing heavy metals patterns in water bodies has significant impacts on human health and aquatic biota. Adsorption processes of heavy metals are resulting in a high removal efficiency, reaching values higher than 50% in most studies. Considering the above, the objective of the present work was to verify the efficiency of the bioadhesive produced from the urban pruning of the city of Campo Mourão - PR to remove zinc by means of equilibrium, of kinetic and isothermal evaluation. The characterization of the bioadsorbent was carried out by the analysis of moisture, ash content, scanning electron microscopy, Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction (XRD). With the results obtained, it was possible to prove the high potential of zinc adsorption by means of the bioadhesive of residues of urban pruning, reaching the maximum removal of 99%. In addition, the obtained isotherm was best fitted by the Langmuir model, indicating monolayer formation of zinc ions on the solid surface of the biosorbent, that all sites are occupied equally and that the adsorption energy is the same at all sites. The value obtained for the separation factor indicated that the adsorption process is favorable. In addition, the urban pruning residue is considered as solid waste present in all municipalities, which generates greater interest for its use in the production of bioadsorbent as final destination of the same.
