Resumen
With the increase environmental degradation on account of anthropic interference, the concern with the relation society-nature has promoted several sustainable actions through Environmental Education. In this way, reductionist practices of consumption and the reuse of waste helps to think about the current capitalist model. The present work has as objective to promote the integrated management of solid waste, approaching the theme of Environmental Education at school in the county of São Jorge D'Oeste. The study had quantitative-qualitative character, where search was carried out through questionnaires, mental maps and analysis of the amount of organic waste produced and wasted at school in the afternoon period. After the collection of the amount of solid waste produced in the school, lectures were developed approaching the topics as: solid waste concept; composting; Environmental problems related to the erroneous waste disposal; the benefits separation of waste into the environment and public health; and sustainability. In addition, alternatives have been proposed to work with organic and paper waste. The results obtained showed that the actions developed contributed to raise about of the problems of waste generation and their correct destination. As well, they promoted changes of habits in the school local. However, it is important that the development of Environmental Education actions are carried out continuously in school, with the purpose of helping at learning, by promoting numerous benefits for school and the environment.
