Resumen
The present work presents an analysis on the theme of the feminine role in the literature, having as object of research the play Lady Windermere’s fan, by Oscar Wilde. The main objective was to identify the reflexes of the Victorian Era, an extremely puritanical and conservative period, in the formation of the female characters of the play. The characters analyzed were Lady Windermere and Mrs. Erlynne. From the works of theorists and critics such as Ellmann (1989), Brown (1985), Scott (1990), Ruffini (2015) among others, it was possible to analyze the life difficulties within the Victorian context suffered by women in this period, by which means Oscar Wilde configures these issues from the feminine world through its characters.
