Resumen
The awful conditions of national highway network many parts, allied with the current economic scenario, imply the necessity of new technologies applicated to Pavement Management Systems, looking for the processes optimization and a better allocation of the available resources. Nowadays, it has being studied the Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) use in pavement management, especially because of the automatic survey possibility, with low interference and a lot of indicators related to traffic and road infrastructure. This work has the objective to examine the applicability of defects identification on asphalt pavements surface using UAVs. The study was held by the defects evaluation in an urban pavement stretch by hiking identification and by manual and supervised classifications with UAVs mapping. It took place a comparative in terms of the defects type and extension assertiveness, the length and the costs of each evaluation methods. The results suggest that the manual classification method presented agreeing results with the reality seen on the studied stretch. For the supervised classification methods, due the barriers found, the results seen was less satisfactory. However, if using suitable equipment with a detailed technical knowledge, the methodologies present great potential of improvement. Despite the initial cost and longer time required for data acquisition, the UVAs methods have great potential, which may bring many benefits to its technology range of applications.
