This study aimed to calculate the thermal efficiency of a mixed boiler fueled by wood into logs, located in Carambeí-PR. The capacity of the boiler is 12,000 kg/h of steam and 12 bar working pressure. The thermal efficiency was performed using the indirect method, due to its higher reliability before the direct method. For this, measurements were performed, with the purpose of analyzing has a thermal efficiency of 64.3%, which is considered low. This result is attributed to the high excess air which reduces the temperature of the flue gas and thus the heat transfer capacity for boiler water. Additionally, a low steam to production of fuel consumption was observed, which was verified by evaluating the evaporation rate.
