Resumen
Competitive cycling has significant numbers in Brazil and this brings the search for training and improvement. There are adverse conditions that tend to hinder the practice of this sport and the training indoors is shown as the solution to these problems. Such training is offered in the form of equipment that simulates training situations. The work consists on a market analysis for this type of product and the identification of a product development opportunity that meets the needs of a cyclist’s training. It was planned, in addition to the conceptual and detailed designs, the manufacturing of a functional prototype for testing. The prototype, wich was built with some modifications in relation to the project due to the scarcity of financial resources and time, was used to carriy outtests in order to evaluate the conformity with the requirements of the clients. Those requirements were partially attended. The prototype was of huge importance both for the identification of problems, limitations and future improvements as well as to demonstrate the practicability of using the same equipment for cycling and running training.
