Resumen
Powder Coating is one of the most important product produced by WEG Tintas Company, being about 60% revenues from the company. The powder coating has larger application in products at WEG Group like, motor painting and electric panels; and the company is the supplier for several industries in Brazil and other overseas clients; In Brazil the company suppliers segments like, furniture, marine, white line, appliances, agriculture machines, arquitectural, ceramic and metallic tiles, automotive parts and several others industries in general. At the powder coating department the factory programming is made by PCP, which uses a weight division to program the orders, being the batches over than 300kgs to be produced in the factory and smaller batches below than 300kgs being produced only in the mini factory. The mini factory has the same production process in comparison to the factory, only the equipment size are smaller with less productivity and different time of production according to pre-established scripts. The application of the Kaizen Method was in the Mini Factory due to several problems like, high rate without operator in the machine when is necessary to realize others tasks, low percentage of use extruders, loss of productivity and high lead time which is bad with the currently market moment. After process monitoring and data survey, it was concluded the main problem and high Setup of the extruders was the adjustment of the batch color, when is necessary to compare the batch color with one standard; It is normal Powder Coating the process to have adjustment in the color due to variation during the weight of the raw materials, mainly the pigments and the variation between pigments batches suppliers; As first action, was suggested to transfer the weight of the batches from the Factory to the Mini Factory, reducing rework and increasing the weight reliability, besides this first stage was necessary to install at the Mini Factory a stage for pre-adjusting the color, being possible to make adjustments before the batches be processed, reducing that time the machine was stopped to adjust the color.
