Embalagens e tempo de armazenamento na conservação da viabilidade de sementes de Handroanthus chrysotrichus (Mart. ex DC) Mattos

Abstract

The native species has been an important and growing market space seeds. However, there are difficulties to formalize the activities of marketing and quality control of these seeds from native species. This study aimed to evaluate the behavior of seeds Handroanthus chrysotrichus (Mart. ex DC.) Mattos, according to the type of packaging and storage time. The fruits were collected from 18 matrices trees. The fruits were benefited manually and a sample was taken to carry out the determination of the initial moisture content of the lot. Then the seeds were dried to reach a moisture content of 10% packaged in kraft paper bags, plastic bags, wrapped in plastic film and closure vacuum after stored for six months in freezer at -15 ± 2 ° C. The germination and emergence were made at time zero (after drying), two months, four months and six months of storage. The statistical procedure used was a factorial model, there was the F-test to check the level of significance of the factors and their interactions, followed by the test of Tukey test for both factors. It was possible to maintain seed viability of certain H. chrysotrichus for six months, regardless of the type of packaging, however the seeds stored in packages with lower permeability maintained higher viability, however after six months of storage decreased the germination of seeds, regardless of packaging used for wrapping.
