Resumen
Currently the excessive generation of solid waste is a constant problem, a lot of this generation is due to the development of cities and it needs to be controlled and managed properly to minimize the impact to the environment and public health. After the publication of the National Policy of Solid Waste, some important measures were established such as specific duties to the government, businesses and the population in regards to solid waste management. Therefore, this paper brings a proposal of a Solid Waste Management Plan (SWMP) for a food services company the city of Campo Mourão – PR, seeking to improve the management of solid waste generated in the enterprise. First of all it was analyzed the current situation of the enterprise, as their generated waste, points of generation, segregation, storage, collection and final disposal of these. After doing these preliminary analysis, it was carried out in two weeks the quantification of the residues, one week in October and another in December to check for a possible influence of seasonality. As improvements to the waste management, some measures such as were suggested such as; adequate positioning of the collecting containers as well as their identification by the color code established by the CONAMA Resolution No. 275 of 2001 and also segregation and correct packing of recyclable and non-recyclable waste to facilitate the work of public and selective collection of the city. Such measures are very important, but will only work with constant monitoring, environmental education initiatives of the employees and periodic updating of the SWMP, always aiming to improve in the control and minimization of waste generation.
