Acondicionamento de resíduos sólidos na área central do município de Marmeleiro - Paraná

Abstract

With the increase in the generation of solid waste, it raised the environmental concern, since, when improperly managed, it can cause numerous negative impacts. To mitigate these impacts, one has the proper management of the waste and, among its stages, is the packaging. At this stage the availability of suitable containers installed at appropriate locations is essential. Therefore, the objective of this study was to diagnose the current situation of the solid waste conditioning stage in the central area of the municipality of Marmeleiro, Paraná, and to evaluate the population's perception about the residues. In order to carry out the diagnosis, the collection truck was traversed before collecting and the points of accumulation of residues of the urban area under study were verified, which later helped to define the locations for the installation of the containers. In addition, urban characteristics were analyzed to verify the availability of space for the installation of containers and, thus, to propose the type of container and the most suitable place for its installation. Regarding the perception of the population, questionnaires were applied to the residents and businesses present in the study area, the results were evaluated by descriptive statistical analyzes and Chi-square test, at a level of 5% of significance to verify if there was an association between the variables surveyed. Thus, the present study identified that the main points of accumulation of solid residues are found in the two main avenues of the urban central area of the municipality. With the application of the questionnaire, it was concluded that the interviewed population approves the installation of a new system of conditioning of solid residues in the municipality and affirm that they would use if they were installed, being verified the association between the categories regarding the opinion of the installation of containers in the municipality and its use, in which the population that considers good or good this system would use after installed, and those that consider irregular would not use. Finally, this study suggested the type of suitable container and the locations for its installation in the central urban area of the municipality. With the accomplishment of this study, it is concluded that the municipality lacks containers for packaging of waste, favoring the occurrence of inadequate packing points. Thus, it is expected that with the suggestion of a new container for packaging and their respective points for the installation, they can guide the Municipal Administration in its future actions and bring benefits to its residents.
