Resumen
The waste generated by veterinary clinic are classified as waste health service (WHS). The increase in services at veterinary generates a greater number of waste from health services. The professionals who handle these wastes need to take special care to prevent the occurrence of occupational accidents. The studied was at a veterinary clinic in Ponta Grossa - PR city in order to identify, classify and observe the handling and disposal of waste generated in the health care setting, comparing them with the NR-32 (2011) . In the period from 17/06/2013 to 15/07/2013 was observed and described the handling, packaging and disposal of waste from the health service during consultations, clinical procedures, surgeries, hospitalizations and recovery of small animals. Group A waste is classified as infectious materials are packaged in white bags milky properly identified. Waste Group B is classified as chemical waste are packed in cardboard boxes identified. Waste group D, those similar to the trash, are packed in black bags resistant to rupture and leak, properly identified. The veterinary clinic does not perform selective collection of waste belonging to this group. The residues belonging to the group and classified as sharps are discarded in special cardboard boxes for this purpose and identified correctly. The final destination of waste from Groups A, B and E is performed by a service provider company in town. Waste group D are collected twice a week by the company. The clinical study has no temporary storage place for waste and external health service, not complying with the law. It was observed that the employees of the establishment make use of PPE, such as gloves, long sleeve coats, safety glasses for eye protection and closed shoes during the handling and disposal of waste from the health service, very important to avoid accidents The clinical study has no system of internal waste management of the health service, with some flaws in the management.
