Resumen
The Brazilian urban growth process without any planning has promoted the inadequate occupation of valley bottom areas, causing deep modifications to the physical and biological environments, and bringing several problems to the urban population. Some of the impacts caused by this inadequate occupation are flooding, changes in the quality of water bodies, and the devaluation of the surrounding area as a result of visual impacts caused by local degradation. Based on these criteria, the environmental impact is the field of analysis of this research, in view of the ecological imbalance that threatens the Capivara Creek. By means of a bibliographic review, georeferenced data analysis and field visit, the application of a method for the evaluation of environmental impacts of local characteristics was carried out. This method was applied to the chosen object of study - the valley bottom of the Capivara Creek - located in the urban area of Londrina - PR. The main results obtained in this work were the diagnosis of the environmental situation of the area, concluding that man is one of the main causes of environmental impact in these vulnerable areas. Acts such as the incorrect disposal of waste in the areas surrounding the valley bottom, operate works without following an appropriate urban planning and/or without performing the necessary care with the site, occupy the APP area inappropriately, are some of the impacts raised in the study. Besides the analysis of the impacts, suggestions of measures that can be adopted to avoid such actions impacting the environment were also presented.
