Resumen
The use of mathematical models to simulate the conditions of water quality becomes an important tool to quantify the self-purification capacity of the river, and its future uses. This study aims to evaluate the situation and the simulation of future scenarios for the river Km 119 in the city of Campo Mourão – PR. The tool used to support the mathematical model water quality was QUAL - UFMG. Calibration data for the model were obtained from three samplings for water of river. The simulated parameters were: dissolved oxygen (DO) and biochemical oxygen demand (BOD). The simulations were made for prognostic effluent, the effluent with an efficiency of 70% and 90% in the treatment, and the effluent of a dairy and a wastewater treatment station. In the calibration it was found that the water quality in the river Km 119 presents good condition. However, if the effluent treatment has not so few stretches of the river in accordance with Resolution nº 430/11 of CONAMA rivers to Class 2. And with 90% efficiency comes in accordance with the resolution of 100% for DO and 97.3% for BOD in the river stretch under study. Thus, for better management of water resources of the watershed is necessary to intensify control over pollution sources and that create and develop a network of monitoring in rivers near the city of Campo Mourão, thereby improving water quality rivers throughout the region.
