Resumen
The bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is one of the 55 species belonging to the genus Phaseolus, and its center of origin is in the region of Mesoamerica. Beans are among the oldest foods in the world and their records are directly associated with human history. In ancient Egypt and Greece, they were cultivated as a symbol of life. Seeds can be considered the most important agricultural input and represent the basis of the production process, as they lead to the field of genetic characteristics that determine the performance of the cultivar and significantly contribute to the successful establishment of the stand. Brazil ranks third among the main dry bean producing countries, with an 11% share of world production. In Mercosur, the average production of the countries that are part of the group was 3.6 million tons, with Brazil being the main producer with 3.1 million tons per year. Carioca beans are the most produced in the national territory, distributed evenly in the three harvests. Black beans have their highest production in the first crop. Beans are an excellent and nutrient-rich food as they provide humans with essential nutrients such as protein, iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins (mainly B complex), carbohydrates and fiber. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physical and physiological quality of carioca bean seeds produced in the municipality of Pato Branco-PR, in order to identify the percentage of purity, germination, as well as ranking the lots according to current legislation. The experiment will be conducted in a completely randomized design (DIC) and the cultivars IAC Polaco1, IPR Sabia, IAC 1850, IAC Polaco2, TAA Marhe e BRS FC 402, from local commerce, will be evaluated. The following variables will be analyzed, analysis of purity, moisture, weight of 1000 seeds, first count, germination test, aging test (force) and field emergence. The results will be tabulated and submitted to analysis of variance (ANOVA). When they present significant results, the means will be compared by Duncan test at 5% probability of error.
