dc.description.abstractPeople’s busy life can cause lower sleep quality and this brings issues such as sleepiness, unstable mood and low productivity. According to some studies like Virginie Gabel’s, exposing an individual to a dawn simulating device can mitigate these effects. Based on it, the project aims to develop an alarm clock made out of a lighting system and a sound system, whose goals are to aid the wake up time with a dawn-simulating light. The systems is built upon the system-on-a-chip ESP32. With its official framework, ESP-IDF, the back-end was developed using the C language and FreeRTOS as an operating system. For setting times, configuring lighting and selecting musics, a web application was developed using the Angular framework, which uses TypeScript as native programming language. All of this is cased in a wood box with a diffuse opening for the light. The lighting scheme demanded calibration for balancing the LEDs color luminosities. The alarm clock reproduces sound, lights up the environment with the set colors and allows for configuration. The sound quality and heat of the system are future improvement points.
