Resumen
In order to organize the many branches of basic education in Brazil, beginning by giving undergraduates high quality education and professional experience, the Institutional Program of Scolarships for Initiation to Teaching (PIBID) was created by CAPES. This study evaluates the contribution of this program in the education of Chemistry undergraduates at the Pato Branco campus of UTFPR. In this study we performed a survey questionnaire containing twelve multiple choice questions to current and former members of the program. The results show that most of the members participate in the program for a period longer than 12 months e most of them believe that the program gives them confidence and experience in their teaching profession. It also shows that most participants have a positive view concerning the benefits that the program brings to the school and teachers alike as well as to the students that participate on the activities developed, even though the teacher sometimes notice a lack of interest and involvement in some of the students. It is also shown that the members of the program consider it to be important in their vocational training, in the development of new approaches for the teaching of Chemistry, in the making of new and alternative teaching materials and promoting their teaching profession. In our investigation, it becomes clear the importance of this project as a first step in the teaching carreer of the undergraduate participants, and improving the quality of the education professionals altogether. We conclude that the the project PIBID - Chemistry/UTFPR campus Pato Branco fulfills its main objectives proposed.
