The road network is the main flow path in Brazil, however, only 13% of it is paved and about this percentage, 95% are paved roads with asphalt. Most of the road network is poorly maintained, with inadequate signaling, making it dangerous and compromising the country's productivity. It is noticeable the need for adequate Brazilian ground transportation infrastructure to ensure the development of Brazil. In this context, the concrete pavements can be a solution to meet this lack of investment, since it has a useful life exceeding 20 years without the need for periodic maintenance and perfectly able to support heavy traffic. This paper aims to list all the advantages of this type of coating, focusing on their competitive potential in order to display it as an alternative to improve the quality of Brazilian roads. In addition, an extensive literature search was made, supported by concepts and informal survey provided by an expert. The conclusion is that there is a deficit in spreading this alternative and, the use of asphalt used as primary option added to the shortage of qualified professionals may explain the small number of roads that use concrete as coating.
