The engineered wood products (EWP) are wood-based products that combines low weight, high mechanical capacity and quality control of the product process. These products are made by several wood components that results in one structural element. The EWP employ the better property of each one to manufacture a product that has enhanced properties. The I-Joist beams are an example of these products. The I-Joist beams are composite structural members that are manufactured using sawn or structural composite lumber flanges and structural panel webs. The EWP are common used in North America, Europe and Japan. This paper present a methodology used for the numerical model development that evaluate the displacement of I-Joist beams. The PRI60 standard beam was evaluated through Simulation Mechanical® software. The analysis type was static linear with these characteristics: solid element (brick), orthotropic materials and standard elastic properties provided by ABNT NBR 7190:1997, Wood Handbook (APA Engineered Wood Handbook, 2010), and BS EN 12369-1:2001. The numerical results show that the developed numerical model is appropriate when compared with analytical results.
