dc.description.abstractThe study herein presented regards the use of quality tools for the improvement in a facility focused on manufacturing electrical motors. The Coils Manufacturing Area was choosen, where form-wound, flat wires, medium voltage coils are produced. The insulation of these componentes was focused, due to its crucial relevance for the performance of the motors, directly influencing the service life and the reliability os the product and, as a consequence, the reputation of the company in the market. Concepts and methodologies were applied to identify, analyze and priorityze potential failure mechanisms. They are: cause-effect diagrams, GUT matrix, Paretto's plots, Root cause analysis and "contenção". Several tests were also performed, like Surge Test, Tan Delta and Impulse Test, for the validation of the effectiveness of the proposed solutions. By using the methodology, improvement was observed in diverse aspects. It was quite visible and sensitive, even measured along the experiments proposed on the produced samples. The parameters analyzed didn't show significant changes on the samples on regard of the manufacturing procedure of the samples, fact that implies on the reduction of the rejection, even of the rework of the parts and of the production cost, affecting the final quality of the product.
