The accelerated aging test is related to assessing the response of seeds through germination test, after being subjected to high temperature and RH close to 100%, for a certain period of exposure. Factors such as ripeness and water absorption by seeds may influence the analysis of data gotten from this test. Thus, the objectives of this study were to characterize the seed Canafistula (Peltophorum dubium) as biometrics, physical and physiological analyzes from different matrices and determine the appropriate period of exposition to the accelerated aging test for evaluating seed vigor classified as seed coat color. After collecting the fruits the extraction and processing of seeds were executed. Determined physical and physiological quality of the seeds in each array and for accelerating aging studies, it was classified according to the tegument established visually brown and green constituting lots I and II, respectively. The accelerated aging test method was chamber at 95% RH and 42 ° C for 0, 24, 48, 72, 96 and 120 hours. After each exposure period under these conditions, there was overcoming seed dormancy and were subjected to germination test using the rolled paper at 25 ° C in the presence of light. We evaluated the germination and vigor (first count). The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial 2x6. The averages of the lots were compared by Tukey test at 1% probability and the behavior of each batch was analyzed through regression. Accelerated aging caused reduction in germination of seeds, the seeds being mostly affected by green coloring. The vigor of the seeds was affected. This fact could be verified by the percentage of germinated seeds in the first count. Green was the lowest one. It was possible to separate batches under 72 hours of exposure (42 ± 1 ° C 95% RH).
