Resumen
Nowadays, water contain many impurities that can be lethal to living beings. This final project aims to develop a cellulosic – carbon nanotubes composite to remove some contaminants from water; more specific, blue methylene. A solution containing ultrapure water and blue methylene was prepared; as the carbon nanotubes filter. UV/Vis spectroscopy before and after filtering the contaminate solution was analyzed. While filtering with paper-only presented absorbance of 85% from the no filtered solution, the absorbance after filtering with carbon nanotubes filtering was around 14% from total. In conclusion, carbon nanotubes can be used to remove water impurities with high efficiency.
