Resumen
This project was carried out studies for the treatment of waste generated in the ophthalmic industry, in order to minimize the environmental impacts caused by the same. In this type of industry it is common to generate wastewater containing EDTA, surfactants, enzymes, dyes, metals and other organic compounds, which can affect the growth of microorganisms hindering conventional treatments, typically organic. The treatment of the effluent by coagulation with post-treatment such as separation by sedimentation or flotation is commonly used and effective in the removal of particulate materials of various effluents. But in the category coloring and organic compounds is essential that different treatment processes. This work involved the study of an alternative means of treatment of raw wastewater through Fenton processes, followed by the characterization of the raw and treated wastewater, evaluating parameters such as COD, BOD, phenols, turbidity, total solids, sediment solids and dissolved solids. In this context, we found that there was a significant reduction in the values of raw effluent parameters compared with the treated effluent and although not yet fully in accordance with the current legislation applies the initiative to treatment by Fenton process.
