Resumen
Biodiesel is a biofuel from renewable sources such as vegetable oils and animal fat, and has been proposed as an alternative to petroleum-derived diesel. Typically, this biofuel is obtained from soybean oil by transesterification reaction using homogeneous catalysts that the end of the reaction are reused and not require further refined and raw water free. Faced with this problem, the use of heterogeneous catalysts has been realized increasingly in academia and industry for the possibility of their reuse and for allowing the use of different lipid sources. Therefore, the main objective is to develop a heterogeneous catalyst, based on the use of heteropolyacids and vanadium molybdate in controlled pore silica support, being applied in the production of biodiesel. However, through the methodology was not made possible to produce biodiesel with heterogeneous catalysts generated because these were washed by alcohol (methanol) in the transesterification reaction.
