Resumen
With the great competitiveness in the market both internal and external, the industries are searching tirelessly for improvements in their process. Its available time is currently the main enemy during production, activities such as setup, even if essential for production to flow quietly passes through criticism since production has to wait while it occurs. In view of this, the present work will use the SMED method as a tool to reduce setup time in a food industry. For the accomplishment of this study will be applied some quality tools in order to understand the process that is currently carried out and will still be used the study of times and movements for the analysis of the same that are currently being performed in the activity. With the analysis performed and the use of the SMED method it will be possible to suggest changes throughout the process so that the main objective is achieved, thus reducing setup time.
