Resumen
Aiming to organize the construction sector, since July of 2013, became effective the Brazilian Standard, NBR 15575, Residential Buildings – Performance, from Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas (ABNT) [Brazilian Association of Technical Standards], which fixes the requirements about safety, habitability, sustainability and performance in residential buildings. Thus, the problem of social housing has generated a crescent concern by the professionals involved. Therefore, the architectural project is an element of prevention of conflicts between the user and the built space, minimizing the occurrence of problems during using and occupation. In this context, the present paper has the architectural plans as a base, with its topic fixed on the performance about the requirements of habitability of social housing related to midsize buildings. The adequacy of residential projects was analyzed from its data, where, through comparison of both kinds of buildings, the requisites of habitability that are being applied and the ones that are not were checked. From this it was possible to observe that both kinds had very close performances, being the requisite of tightness the less fulfilled and the lighting requisite having complete fulfillness. Therefore, the application of the concept of performance on construction is costy because it depends on several factors, but it is an unreversible trend all arround the world. It is the Brazilian construction sector task to find effective ways to overcome the different chalenges.
