Resumen
The first residues did not cause great impact on the environment, for being the majority of organic origin. With the industrialization and the growth of the population the generated volume and types have been increased, provoking environment, social and economic impact. In order to reverse this aspect diverse, concepts and methods have been considered and applied, among them it can be cited the Cleanest Production and the Zeri Method. The Cleanest Production applied to the companies, tries preventively to diminish the volume and the toxicity of its residues and the Zeri Method through conglomerates of companies, the total exploitation of that potential raw material. In that direction, the exploitation of molding sand of 5 foundries industries in the city of Ponta Grossa - PR was evaluated. To reach that objective it was tried (i) to know the reality of the foundry sector of the city of Ponta Grossa; (II) to identify and to quantify the solid residues of casting in the city of Ponta Grossa; (III) to confirm molding sand residues as the residue that presents the greatest generated volume and the biggest problems in its reutilization (IV) to analyze the internal reutilization of the molding sand (v) to develop an instrument of collection of data. The conclusion is there is idleness in the castings of Ponta Grossa and is economically, the regeneration of sands is viable, making it possible the generation of new companies.
