Resumen
Small wind turbines can be connected to the sub transmission/distribution concessionaires. These forms of generation and connection have grown enormously in Brazil and worldwide. Due to, there are new standards and technical recommendations for minimum requirements for connecting new producers of electricity from wind power to the electrical system. The connection of distributed generation wind affects the electrical system in various ways. One of the situations that are created with the inclusion of distributed generation wind on power system, is the possibility that parts of the electrical system loads remain connected to these generators in the event of contingencies in the utility system, creating a condition called islanding. The islanding is not allowed by most power utilities in several countries, including Brazil. This setting endangers the safety of persons and equipment, besides deteriorating the quality of power supplied to local consumers. At this way, this study aims to evaluate two anti-islanding protections relays: phase displacement and rate of change of frequency. Thus, this study evaluates the effectiveness of these relay applications in a specific system with distributed generation, showing the difficulties encountered and facilities for its use.
