dc.description.abstract | The production of leather is always growing. With it, the generation of waste in its industries are closely associated. In the production of leather, chromium is one of the main materials used for tanning, being absorbed only 60%, making the remaining residue. The sludge generated at the sewage treatment plant of tanneries, in large part, has heavy metals that makes it difficult to dispose, being restricted to Landfills of Hazardous Industrial Waste. The encapsulation consists of isolating a material by adding to another material, making it inert and without contact with the medium. Considering the high rate of production of chromium residues generated by the leather industries, this work aims to encapsulate the sludge coming from a sewage treatment plant of a tannery located in the north of Paraná. The sludge was added to the concrete in five different proportions, and test specimens were made for the compressive strength tests. There was an expected decrease in concrete strength with aggregate sludge, however, the proportions of 2% and 8% of sludge demonstrated an approximate resistance of the blank. All the concretes presented resistance to be characterized as non-structural concrete. | |
