Resumen
This work presents an introduction about the steel structures, discussing briefly with respect to constructions that are present throughout history, the types of steel profiles usually found in the market and the properties that influence the calculation of strength of such elements. It discusses concepts regarding educational softwares, in addition to other computational items such as python programming language and Glade tool which were used throughout this work. It details the procedures of the design to tension and compression of steel elements according to ABNT NBR8800:2008, focusing the I-shaped profiles hot-roled (hot rolled and welded), angle and double angle, as basis for a software development to design of related elements. The work brings the interfaces of the developed software, pointing out the functioning of each item presented. The results obtained in the prototype are compared to pre-determined examples showing the accuracy of developed software.
