In face of a device about to be scrapped, there is the idea to keep it in operation. For this, a commercial alternative that will cease to exist soon or a natural fluid developed in the last century. This study came to compare the R- 401a fluid, R600a, and R -290, without changing any original component of the refrigerator system equipment in question. Comparing to this the COP, the electrical consumption and the refrigerating power. The R -290 showed incompatibility with the original type of equipment condenser, as foreseen in the technical literature, invalidating its use as a direct replacement. Instead, the R- 600a showed better electrical consumption of 0.7 % more economical than the R- 401a, which in turn, had the highest refrigerating power.
