Resumen
This work aimed to design a mechanism for removing cassava peel, which is adaptable to all root shapes and processes it for sale in natura. Initially, the definitions of family farming are discussed, as well as a review of data regarding the cultivation of cassava in Brazil, its structure and morphology. Subsequently, important concepts for an engineering project and its stages are reviewed. Also presented are the obstacles faced by small farmers due to the lack of equipment for family farming and the low efficiency of competing equipment. Using the design methodology, the product development process was carried out, following it, the stages of informational, conceptual and detailed design, were carried out, where it was defined how the product would be structured. As a result, using 3D CAD software, the components and structure were built, as well as how the equipment will behave. The developed equipment meets the requirements pointed out as fundamental by the consulted farmers, it is adaptable, it has a high productivity in the operation of total removal of the cassava peel and counter-peel, it generates low productive waste and it is easy to use, maintain and clean.
