Resumen
This document presents the computational development of a distance relay with MHO and Quadrilateral characteristics, both widely used in the protection of transmission lines for the isolation of defects (short circuits), if these occur. The distance relays are installed on the terminals of the transmission lines and are responsible for sending the actuation signals to the switches that isolate the part affected by a disturbance so as not to damage the equipment or even damage the continuity of the transmitted electric power in adjacent lines. This study proposes the computational implementation of a philosophy of distance protection used in the
commercial environment, through the Matlab/Simulink platform. It is worth emphasizing that the simulation of protection philosophies promotes the innovation of academic teaching, as well as, they can be attractive teaching alternatives due to the technical and economic di culties for the modernization and constant updates of the laboratories.
