Resumen
We present in this work two strategies to calculate the volume of some convex polyhedra of the following classes: Platonic polyhedra, Archimedean polyhedra, Catalan’s polyhedra and Johnson’s polyhedra. These strategies consist of: decomposing the convex polyhedron into convex polyhedra of known volume, such as prisms and pyramids; starting from a convex polyhedron of known volume, such as the cube, for example, to eliminate convex polyhedra of known volume, such as prisms and pyramids, to obtain the convex polyhedron from which the volume measurement is to be determined. We conclude by presenting composition/decomposition activities of convex polyhedra for the calculation of the volume using GeoGebra 3D. These activities are proposed for the Graduation in Mathematics, but can be adapted for High School.
