Resumen
This study aimed at surveying the main risks in the filtering sector of a chemical industry using the risk analysis techniques: Checklist and Risk Preliminary Analysis - RPA. The RPA is discussed based on data previously collected through the Checklist, detecting existing risks in the filtering sector of a company in Ponta Grossa - PR, which produces, among others, solvent based resins which require equipment that might be hazardous if not properly monitored. Based on methodological technique employed by the multinational company DUPONT, the Checklist was applied as preliminary research. The resulting data was then recorded in the RPA spreadsheet and analyzed employing the Support Reference for the Selection of Probability of Occurrence of an Event, which pointed out the different degrees of risks detected and classified according to the Tolerability of Risks General Matrix. Only substantial or intolerable risks were selected for discussion as these are the ones that offer severe risk, impeding the continuation or imposing permanent interruption of activities around the equipment or the place evaluated until the risk is reduced or totally eliminated. Results obtained by the use of the RPA technique permitted to point where and which were the causes of risk occurrence, as well as to present suggestions for their reduction or elimination. It was concluded that the RPA technique aided by the Checklist consists of an instrument that contributes to raise administrators’ and entrepreneurs’ awareness that the control of risks and process management which involve materials and equipment that offer risks is not a complex process that requires great technical apparatus to be carried out in a company.
