Resumen
The present work was developed in order to demonstrate the amount of phosphate from swine wastewater (ARS) adsorbed by synthetic iron oxides, based on the thesis that these ARS are used as agricultural fertilizer. These wastewaters have large concentrations of nutrients which, when applied in excess, are carried to water bodies, and it generates many impacts. One of those impacts is eutrophication of aquatic environments, where there is excessive growth of algae due to excess nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. In this study, synthetic goethites were used to evaluate the removal of soluble phosphorus from ARS. The goethite is a type of iron oxide and due to its high point of zero charge (PZC) have anion exchange capacity (CTA), as the phosphate from the ARS. Therefore, first, modeled is a simple system to predict the behavior of match with synthetic goethite and Later the interaction between the goethite and the ARS. In the first analysis, the values of adsorption were obtained up to 5.17 mg P per gram of goethite. In the second analysis adsorption values were demonstrated well below the first one, being about 10% of the maximum adsorption capacity of phosphorus (CMAP) is 8.57 mg g-1.That CMAP was estimated by the Langmuir model. Thus, it was verified that the hypothesis achieve phosphorus extraction of contaminated environments by adsorption goethites was partially confirmed, once only in the experiment with phosphorus simple system it was found to occurrence of adsorption at high levels.
