Resumen
In order to improve the final product quality of a starch plant located in western Paraná, a case of study was carried out for the implementation of an infrared solid moisture sensor to perform, with the PID controller, the control of the process. Since the current control was faulty, it resulted in costs for the industry such as excessive drying (1.5% less humidity than legislation). In this way, the control system was simulated using two sensors (MM710e and Predikt), evaluating the efficiency of each one. A comparison with the current process control system was also performed. From the simulations, it was concluded that the two sensors showed improvements in process control, with the MM710e having the best result, but with an adverse point, which is the cost (60% higher than the Predikt sensor).
